Julia C. González Acevedo

History, Music and ESL Teacher

About me

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I have been drawing and painting since I was 3 years old. Today, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education History with a minor in Popular Music and a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. In the future, I hope to complete and publish my research on Taino music and instruments. (Tainos are the people who were native to Puerto Rico before it was invaded by Spain.) In my research, I will attempt to recreate the Taino's musical expressions and share new findings about their culture through analysis of their music.

Teaching Philosphy:

Hands-On Learning Opportunities:

I believe that learning is most effective when students actively participate in the educational process. Hands-on experiences not only deepen understanding but also provide practical skills that are essential for real-world application. By engaging students in interactive projects, experiments, and collaborative activities, I aim to create an environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and a genuine passion for learning...
